Anthony R. Coleman Sr. established Coleman Heating and Air Conditioning in July of 1991.
Anthony graduated at top of his class from Northeast Institute with a degree in Heating, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration. Anthony became the youngest license African American HVAC contractor in western New York’s history at the age of 21. Under Anthony’s leadership and the company’s model
“WE GET THE JOB DONE!” the company grew to be the largest locally owned African American HVAC Company in western New York. A company highly regarded for quality, technical expertise, and 100% customer satisfaction.
In 1994, Coleman heating and Air Conditioning was honored with The Black Achievers Award. This award is given to Businesses that operate in excellence, integrity, and also those making a positive impact in the community.
In 1996 Coleman Heating and Air Conditioning move into there new 20,000 square foot state of art corporate headquarters. This facility provided a more “employee-centered” workplace including large, comfortable workspaces, a sheet metal fabrication shop, Training area with classrooms, locker room, dinning area, and a complete customer show room.
In 1998 Coleman Heating and Air Conditioning saw the start of Coleman Plumbing, Electric Division and the revitalization of their Commercial Mechanical, group. In 1999, they became Coleman Mechanical Heating and Air Conditioning Inc.
In 2000, Anthony had vision to become the areas first all-inclusive contractor in Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing, Electrical, and General Contracting. Anthony and his Brother Mr. Bobby Johnson who had at that time over 20 years experience in the construction industry started a new division Eagle Eye General Contracting Inc. In 2001, the companies opened a second location to accommodate the phenomenal growth. Later that year the world stopped to watch in disbelief as the 911 terrorists attacks’ happened. This was a major impact to the US economy, but the New York economy was hit the hardest. Shortly after the 911 attacks’ Anthony received an offer to sell Coleman Mechanical and stay on as the general manager from one of his biggest competitors; well the competitors sold their company to a national company one year prior, and became a buying agent for that national company. Although this was not the first time Anthony had received an offer or heard about that national company, this time was different. The country was going in a recession and business was slowing down rapidly. Over the years’ Anthony had read many HVAC article stating 3-5 national companies were going to take over the HVAC industry the way Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Home depot, had taken over their industry. This was one of those companies. Anthony started to think about the thousands of customers, the numerous awards, newspaper write ups, and accomplishments of Coleman Mechanical. Then Anthony made one the toughest decisions of his life and sold the company to insure the legacy of Coleman Mechanical. After working for the new owners a little over a year Anthony realized the company that he founded had become too corporate and lost the Coleman personal touch with the customers. Anthony and his wife took a long over due vacation in the spring to Charlotte NC. They were going to visit some family members that moved there from Buffalo N, Y five years prior. This was the year Charlotte had an early heat wave it was in the 100’s everyday. Anthony’s family asked him if he could take a look at his neighbor’s air conditioner, he had been waiting to get it fixed for four days because every company was booked up at least 5-7 days due to the heat. Anthony was amazed that a customer would have to wait over four days for a simple service call.
Anthony made the repair and word started to spread among other neighbors and family members about the fast quality service he had provided. By the time, he left Charlotte he had preformed 15-20 repairs and was still receiving call for repairs. When Anthony returned to Buffalo, NY he began to think about what his family member’s neighbor said, “Your services are needed in Charlotte”, and he made the decision to loose the fear of failure and leave Buffalo closing that chapter of his life he relocated to Charlotte and birthed a new vision.
In July 2003 Coleman Mechanical Services was establishes in Charlotte, NC. This was the start of a new chapter in Anthony’s life. Anthony, his family and some key employees relocated to the charlotte area; the company had phenomenal growth. Coleman Mechanical Services was build with the goal of 100% customer satisfaction. The company was dedicated to bringing trust and integrity back to the HVAC industry. The national companies started a trend by putting their service technicians on commission so they would sale more repairs and installations. This trend was adopted by some smaller companies and began to have a negative effect in the HVAC industry. Local new stations like Action Nine and, national shows like 20/20 had started an investigation with hidden cameras exposing greedy service technicians trying to sale unneeded repairs so they could make more money. This made customers very uncomfortably with the HVAC industry. This was one trend that Coleman Mechanical didn’t follow they took anther path with a Bringing you total comfort campaign to reinstate integrity back to the HVAC industry. Bringing you total comfort! Became the company model that is still used today.
In 2006 Coleman Mechanical Services made their greatest acquisition. They purchased Allstar Services of Charlotte, a fully licensed Heating, Air- Conditioning, Plumbing, and Electrical Company. Allstar that was Co- founded by one our biggest clients today Mr. Allen Tate from Allen Tate realty.
In 2008 Coleman Service Group LLC was established and became the parent company for Coleman Mechanical services, Coleman Plumbing Services, Coleman Electrical Services, Coleman Handyman Services, Change My Filters and, their own line of Heating and Air Conditioning equipment Total Comfort. Coleman Services LLC have become the areas largest all inclusive company with over 7000 customers and is still rapidly growing , with well qualified knowledgeable technicians, and 24 hour service the Coleman group have become one of the Carolinas premier contractors.
